That is a question for mods. My guess is that chat is like it is on Reddit. Either X days pass or X number of posts after the account is activated and then chat is an option?
The restrictions for new members are automatically removed after you make 5 posts - OR - after 48 hours from joining LPSG. You've already made 3 posts, so only 2 more posts and you'll be able to DM. Oh, and after your 5th post... give the computer some time to catch up, but it will happen soon. This really is a great community - Have fun!
